Motion 65 – What's Next for the Protection of Intact Forest Landscapes

Since the approval of Motion 65 at the 2014 General Assembly, strong concerns have been raised. While there is widespread agreement about the need to protect areas that greatly benefit biodiversity and the climate, there are still concerns about M65 implementation. As a result there are several motions that have been submitted representing different ideas to revise the current definitions, identifications and rules around IFLs.  This side-meeting aims to provide an understanding of the challenges of protecting and managing IFLs and a review of possible solutions.
