Since 1999, FSC has been discussing Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). As a continuation of our discussions, a learning process started, while GMOs remain unacceptable in FSC forests and products, and the policy for association doesn’t change its requirements on GMOs until after the learning. We have invited a panel of experts in technology, bioethics, sociology and community engagement, and risk management to share their views and discuss which sound requirements for this research should be met. Please join as we further explore this subject and conduct an open discussion with members and stakeholders to help inform the Board’s approach and to determine next steps.
This session will be a continuation (not a repeat) of the session on Sunday 9 October, 11:00 – 12:30 on the genetic engineering learning process. It is an opportunity to continue conversations between members, panel of experts and board on the genetic engineering learning process and the draft participation framework, providing feedback on the process and the first draft of the participation framework.
