Annah

Annah Agasha, FSC Africa

Annah has 24 years of experience in forestry, natural resource management, and rural development. Before joining FSC, she advised the private sector in Uganda on mitigating environmental footprints and worked with international NGOs to integrate development assistance with forestry and natural resource management. She also led projects on carbon quantification for Payments for Ecosystem Services and other environmental protection initiatives.

As Deputy Regional Director, Africa for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Annah oversees forest management certification and the FSC Ecosystem Services portfolio across Africa, ensuring effective implementation of the FSC system, addressing labour issues, and strengthening regional collaborations. Since 2019, she has also served as Coordinator for the Eastern Africa Sub-region.

Annah combines her passion for smallholders and communities with extensive FSC experience. She previously served as Smallholder Support Manager at FSC International, where she helped initiate the Continuous Improvement Approach and launched the FSC Smallholders Certification Africa chapter. She holds an MSc in Agroforestry, a BSc in Forestry, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management

Hartono

Hartono Prabowo, FSC Indonesia

Bachelor of Forestry with expertise in forest resource conservation. Appointed as the FSC National Representative in Indonesia in July 2013, before being assigned as Technical Director in 2022. Previously joined TFT, a Forest Sustainability Consulting Organization; assisting in developing and managing timber traceability systems, sustainable forest management, and community forests. His career in the timber industry began at an integrated wood industry company in East Kalimantan. He was responsible for Training, Human Resources Development, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management & Sustainable Forest Management Practices, as well as Business Strategy & Planning Cycle.

Richard

Richard Ferguson, FSC Africa

Richard is an experienced biologist, natural resource manager and consultant with 30+ years’ experience in conservation, wildlife utilisation and agribusiness fields, sustainability and responsible resource use.  He integrates into academic, NGO and commercial settings and has lots of real-world African logistical, design, problem solving and practical skills from many years of experience in developing countries. He is highly self-motivated and able to work alone or as part of a team and has shown his leadership skills involving managing, developing and motivating staff and partners to achieve objectives. Coming from many years of consulting, training and remote-base implementation, Richard joined FSC in 2023 as Coordinator for the Southern Africa Region, and travels widely in the region developing FM certification with national authorities, commercial operators and communities.

Suresh

Suresh Gairola, FSC India

A former Indian Forest Service officer, Suresh has vast experience of more than 38 years working with the government in diverse areas of forest management, wildlife conservation, public policy, environmental law, forestry research and administration. He has worked on key assignments with government of India including Principal Chief Conservator of Forests–Maharashtra State; Director General-Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education; Managing Director-Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra; India Country Representative in the International Council of IUFRO; and CITES Management Authority. Suresh has been instrumental in reinvigorating and strengthening FSC’s presence in India.

Thesis

Thesis Budiarto, FSC Asia-Pacific

Thesis Budiarto is a forestry professional with over 18 years of experience in sustainable forest management, certification systems, conservation, and nature-based solutions across Asia and the Pacific. Serving as the Program Manager for Technical and Strategic Engagements in APAC, he’s co-leading the RFSS (Regional Forest Stewardship Standard) implementation in India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Prior joining FSC in 2021, he was a member of the FSC Regional Forest Stewardship Standard Technical Advisory Group for smallholders.

Que

Thi Que Anh Vu, FSC Vietnam

Que Anh got her PhD. in Forestry and Forest Ecology in Goettingen University, Germany in 2006. Main fields are Tropical and Subtropical Silviculture, Forest Ecology, Forest Inventory, Social Forestry and Forestry policy. She had more than 15 years working as lecturer and researcher at University of Agriculture and Forestry in Thai Nguyen. She has more than 20 years experiences working with different INGOs like WWF and SNV. She was Standard Development Group for Vietnam to develop NFSS for Vietnam under project Forest certification for Ecosystem Services Working as FSC Representative in Vietnam since 2017 and as FSC Vietnam Country Manager since 2018. She is responsible for all FSC activities along whole supply chains from the forest to buyers for Vietnam. Furniture and construction materials are key value chains for Vietnam. The essential work is to support all market linkages along FSC furniture supply chains, work with the partners to raise awareness on FSC certification system and solutions and on how FSC ensure sustainable forest management, Supply chain Traceability and EUDR, especially RFSS
