One Framework, Many Realities: Challenges, Opportunities, and Lessons Learned in Forest Operations for Implementing Remedy

The UN Decade for Restoration is underway and forest operations play a part in making it successful. As part of FSC’s contribution to these global efforts, the FSC Remedy Framework became effective in 2023 as result of the collective vision and inputs from FSC members and stakeholders. Two years later, companies have begun implementing this procedure or preparing for implementation, facing challenges and identifying opportunities worth sharing. Panelists will share perspectives on the challenges and opportunities for forest operators to implement the Remedy Framework, and in restoration more broadly. We will hear perspectives from Indonesia, Brazil and Africa on the challenges, opportunities, and lessons learned for forest operations to achieve remedy. In addition, this session will explore opportunities to enhance the environmental and social benefits of remediation, seeking effective solutions for different contexts, and to encourage global collaboration in supporting transparent and participatory process of social and environmental remedies.
