Un marco, múltiples realidades: desafíos, oportunidades y lecciones aprendidas en operaciones forestales durante la implementación de la Remediación

El Decenio de las Naciones Unidas sobre la Restauración está en marcha y las operaciones forestales desempeñan un papel importante para que sea un éxito. Como parte de la contribución del FSC a estos esfuerzos globales, el Marco de Remediación del FSC entró en vigor en 2023 como resultado de la visión colectiva y los aportes de los miembros y actores sociales del FSC. Dos años después, las empresas han comenzado a implementar este procedimiento o a prepararse para su implementación, enfrentándose a desafíos e identificando oportunidades que vale la pena compartir. Los panelistas compartirán sus perspectivas sobre los desafíos y oportunidades para que los operadores forestales implementen el Marco de Remediación y, en términos más generales, la restauración. Escucharemos las perspectivas de Indonesia, Brasil y África sobre los desafíos, las oportunidades y las lecciones aprendidas para que las operaciones forestales alcancen la remediación. Además, en esta sesión se explorarán las oportunidades para mejorar los beneficios ambientales y sociales de la remediación, buscando soluciones eficaces para diferentes contextos, y para fomentar la colaboración global en el apoyo a un proceso transparente y participativo de remediación social y ambiental.

Camila

Camila Pergentino

Camila Pergentino is a biologist with a Master’s degree in Forest Science and a specialization in Project Management. She has technical experience with the FSC and PEFC systems, including coordination roles, participation in international working groups, and analysis of normative requirements (having served as a member of the SDG). She currently works as a Forest Certification Specialist, leading the strategic initiatives of the Cooperative Program on Forest Certification (PCCF) at IPEF (Forest Research and Studies Institute).

Sarah

Sarah Diniz

Sarah Diniz is a forestry engineer, specializing in silviculture. She coordinates the Cooperative Program on Forest Certification (PCCF) at IPEF (Forest Research and Studies Institute), where she leads initiatives aimed at strengthening forest certification in Brazil. She has experience in the FSC and PEFC systems, supporting companies in obtaining and maintaining their certifications, as well as in the interpretation and implementation of technical standards.

Purwadi

Purwadi Soeprihanto

Purwadi Soeprihanto graduated from Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University, Master Program in Planning and Public Policy from Economic Faculty, Indonesia University, and The Engineer Professional Education Program, Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University. From 2012-2021, he was Executive Director of the Association of Indonesian Forest Concessionaires (APHI). Currently, he is Secretary General supporting APHI’s Board in facilitating forest concessionaires' operations in Indonesia, covering plantation and natural forest and ecosystem restoration concessionaires.   

Gary

Gary Dunning

Gary is the Executive Director of The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment.  His primary responsibilities center on strategic planning, institutional collaborations, communications, and programming. Gary also lectures at the School on stakeholder engagement, leadership in the forest sector and timely issues in forestry. 

He is the founding Executive Director of The Forests Dialogue (TFD). TFD was created in 2000 to provide global forest leaders with a neutral, multi-stakeholder dialogue (MSD) platform and process focused on developing mutual trust and a shared understanding while working towards collaborative solutions to the challenges in achieving sustainable forest management and forest conservation around the world.  Gary previously served as the Director of the Yale Forest Forum from 1998-2000.  He holds an MF degree from the Yale School of the Environment and a BA in Geography & Natural Resources from Humboldt State University.
