Zámba Heritage – A Bold African Idea for Forest Stewardship

Africa’s forests—the Congo Basin’s tropical rainforests, afro-montane forests, dry woodlands, and peatlands—are a global climate and biodiversity lifeline, yet they face unprecedented threats from deforestation, land degradation, and economic pressures. With COP30 in 2025 as a pivotal moment for global climate ambition, the Zámba Heritage initiative was conceived as a platform to mobilize high-level commitments, partnerships, investments and bold actions to scale up sustainable forest management (SFM) and economic development across Africa.

This session will introduce Zámba Heritage’s compelling vision, inspired coalitions, and action agenda, showcasing how African leadership, alongside FSC and its network, will drive policy alignment, investment, actions, including sustainable consumption and ethical sourcing to secure the continent’s forests.
