Smallholders have an important place in the FSC system but their access to certification is difficult due to complex standards and costly audit processes.
The FSC New Approaches Project and the Asia-Pacific Regional Office have developed and tested a FSC Standard that specifically addresses these challenges to help the millions of smallholders in the Asia Pacific Region obtain certification. It is now in an implementation phase.
This side meeting will outline the development process, the resulting Standard and the challenges and experience in implementing this standard in Indonesia and other countries.
