Held every three years, the General Assembly is FSC’s highest decision-making platform, where international members from all chambers—environmental, social, and economic—debate and vote on key motions that influence FSC’s policies and strategies. The event fosters dialogue, collaboration, and innovation to strengthen FSC’s mission of promoting sustainable forest management globally.

Why Panama?

It is only fitting that Panama serves as the backdrop for GA 2025. As one of the few carbon-negative countries in the world, Panama absorbs more CO₂ than it emits, with over 60% of its land covered in forests acting as a major carbon sink. In 2021, Panama, along with Bhutan and Suriname, was recognized at COP26 for maintaining a net carbon-negative status. Its breathtaking landscapes and rich ecosystems are a testament to the country’s deep connection to nature and conservation.

Beyond its environmental achievements, Panama is a global hub for sustainability discussions. With its strong commitment to conservation and strategic location, it provides the perfect setting for FSC members and stakeholders to engage in meaningful conversations about the future of forests, markets, and communities.

What to Expect at GA 2025
