As we head into FSC’s 10th General Assembly (my very first), I am reminded of what makes this organisation truly unique – a highly engaged, knowledgeable and vocal membership. For the past several months, we have prepared for this moment, one when our entire membership comes together—bringing different perspectives, experiences, and visions-to chart the path ahead. It is when we hear the heartbeat of our organization just a bit louder.

We are gathering at a time when the world urgently needs solutions that protect the sustainability of forests, people, and the planet. Ongoing climate change, biodiversity loss, and the erosion of rights and livelihoods of local communities are reasons why FSC’s mission is more important and more urgent than ever.

The discussions you will have and decisions you will make here will carry weight far beyond this event. They will determine how FSC strengthens trust in its system, how it expands its reach and relevance, and how it remains a standard-bearer for solutions the world urgently needs. The responsibility is immense, but so too is the opportunity to lead with vision and courage.

Thank you for the commitment you bring to this Assembly. It is through your collective leadership that FSC will continue to thrive—and continue to make a difference where it is most needed. I look forward to us – members, network partners and staff – working together this GA week to make change happen.
