How FSC can drive Meaningful Impact in landscapes while generating Value for Companies

Given increasing pressures on both forests and business, it’s imperative to work together to strengthen the business case for companies to prefer and support FSC, from the forest floor to the sales floor. To reach the scale of action and investment needed to address the climate and biodiversity crises, forest conservation, restoration, and sustainable management need to be not just the right thing to do, but the smart thing to do. This side event will explore 3 main questions:

  • What is the business case for FSC for downstream companies: preferencing it in sourcing and supporting increased certification within and outside of own supply chains?
  • How can this ROI be measured?  How can downstream companies collaborate on more specific ways to measure the business case for taking FSC-related actions?
  • How can the FSC business case for forest managers be strengthened?
  • How can the business case complement the broader ecosystem of private sector standards, tools, and frameworks etc. (EUDR, AFI, SBTN, TNFD etc.)?
