Dando forma al futuro de los estándares de cadena de custodia: innovación, integridad e impacto

La cadena de custodia (CdC) es un esquema clave de FSC, y el último gran proceso de revisión tuvo lugar hace 10 años. Existe un delicado equilibrio entre la integridad del sistema y un enfoque moderno. Es fundamental contar con la participación de los miembros para que puedan orientar los cambios fundamentales del esquema. En el momento de la Asamblea General (AG), el primer borrador del estándar de la CdC estará listo para su consulta, lo que ofrecerá una oportunidad ideal para comprometerse con los miembros.

Apolinar Zarzuela Tolentino, Jr, Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI)

Apolinar Zarzuela Tolentino, Jr, started his work with BWI in 1998 as Education Officer of the Philippine Project Office and was appointed National Project Coordinator from 2001-2003. In 2004 he joined the BWI Regional Office in Malaysia as Regional Education Officer and eventually appointed as the Regional Representative in 2010.

His first direct participation in the FSC was its General Assembly in Sabah in 2011. He was involved in two FSC Technical Working Group that developed the FSC Core Labour Requirements (CLR) in the Chain-of-Custody Standards.

Cesar

César Gonçalves, FSC

César Gonçalves has been part of the FSC Chain of Custody & Controlled Wood (CoC/CW) team for 3 years. He holds an MSc in Forestry Engineering, and has professional experience in forest inventory, forest investment projects, and CoC certifications. He then worked in a certification body, managing and auditing CoC certifications. At FSC, he has contributed to key revision processes (e.g., FSC Regulatory Module), and is currently acting as technical coordinator for the CoC revision.

Dough

Doug Patterson, Renewable Strategies

Doug Patterson is an FSC member part of the Economic North Chamber. He has a master’s in environmental studies from York University in Ontario, Canada. He is currently President of Renewable Strategies, a Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood consulting firm, and CEO of Forest Products Certification Group, an FSC CoC Group Certification for forest products companies in the United States. FPCG has over 200 companies in 40 States and 2 US Territories.

Emily

Emily White, FSC

Emily has been part of the Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood team since August 2023. She holds an MSc in International Business and Sustainability and has worked in sustainability and social compliance at FTSE 100 and 250 companies before joining FSC. Since joining, she has led several accelerated processes, including many linked to FSC CLR implementation and currently manages Auxiliary 3 – Workers’ Rights in the Chain of Custody Standards Revision process.

Henry

Henry Krüger, Smurfit Westrock

Henry Krüger is Group Chain of Custody Manager at Smurfit Westrock, a global leader in paper-based packaging. With an M.Sc. in Chemical and Biotechnology Engineering, he has been with the company since 2003 and in his current role since 2010. Henry plays a key role in advancing sustainable sourcing, representing Smurfit Westrock—an FSC member since 2010—on the FSC Chain of Custody core working group, overseeing certification across 63 mills and 500+ converting plants worldwide.

Parmida

Parmida Daniali, FSC

Parmida Daniali has been part of FSC since 2021, working within the Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood team. She holds an MSc in Environmental Management and has contributed to several key standard revision processes, including FSC-STD-40-004a FSC Product Classification and FSC-STD-30-010 Controlled Forest Management. Most recently, she has taken on the role of process lead for the revision of FSC-STD-40-004 FSC Chain of Custody.

Ulf

Ulf Sonntag, ZGD

For 20 years, Ulf Sonntag has been helping companies in the supply chain for wood and paper products to achieve and maintain their FSC certification. As a consultant and auditor, he is committed to the further development of the requirements and their practical implementation in the market. In Germany, he manages COC group certificates with more than 500 participating companies. His motivation is to make certification easier, especially for small businesses.
