Retos y brechas en la implementación del Marco para la Remediación del FSC e ideas para mejorarlo

FSC se está embarcando en la hazaña pionera de gestionar una vía voluntaria y no judicial para que los titulares de derechos y el medio ambiente puedan acceder a la reparación de los daños derivados de la conversión de bosques naturales y otras actividades inaceptables. Este trabajo identificó retos y vacíos en la aplicación, así como beneficios positivos y oportunidades para los titulares de derechos y los actores sociales. También ofreció a FSC importantes enseñanzas a través de las organizaciones que aplican el marco de remediación, los titulares de derechos que participan en la remediación, los actores sociales que observan y apoyan a los titulares de derechos, y a través de expertos que realizan evaluaciones independientes de los procesos de remediación.  En esta sesión, los miembros FSC escucharán distintas perspectivas y sus propuestas de mejora. Una sesión interactiva en la que se debatirán oportunidades y soluciones para hacer frente a los retos y aprovechar las oportunidades para remediarlos, y en la que se le pedirá que aporte sus ideas y comentarios.

Gary Dunning

Gary is the Executive Director of The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment.  His primary responsibilities center on strategic planning, institutional collaborations, communications, and programming. Gary also lectures at the School on stakeholder engagement, leadership in the forest sector and timely issues in forestry. He is the founding Executive Director of The Forests Dialogue (TFD). TFD was created in 2000 to provide global forest leaders with a neutral, multi-stakeholder dialogue (MSD) platform and process focused on developing mutual trust and a shared understanding while working towards collaborative solutions to the challenges in achieving sustainable forest management and forest conservation around the world.  Gary previously served as the Director of the Yale Forest Forum from 1998-2000.  He holds an MF degree from the Yale School of the Environment and a BA in Geography & Natural Resources from Humboldt State University.

Grant Rosoman

Senior Forest Solutions Advisor for Greenpeace International. Involved with FSC since its inception, on the FSC International board (including chair), and Policy and Standards Committee. Co-founder of the multi-stakeholder High Carbon Stock Approach (HCSA), that puts ‘No Deforestation’ commitments into practice. Worked on commodity markets transformation and corporate engagement, in particular wood product and palm oil. Three decades experience supporting community forest management solutions in Solomon Is, Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.

Salem Jones, J.D. 

Salem is a legal and integrity specialist with over 20 years of experience in policy development, not-for-profit governance, and conflict resolution. As Programme Manager at FSC International, Salem leads global initiatives on dispute resolution and remedy, including high-impact dialogue and multi-stakeholder processes. Known for strategic leadership in complex governance environments, Salem has represented FSC at major international forums and driven key reforms in corporate accountability.
